The 2002 SC 430 is the jewel of the Lexus line-up.
A retractable hard top design improves structural
rigidity and wind noise at the price of already-limited
trunk space. The elegant 2+2 coupe turns into a
convertible in less than 25 seconds. The new SC
inherits its 300hp 4.3-liter VVT-i (Variable Valve
Timing with intelligence) V-8 engine from the GS
430 sedan.
Zero-60-second
runs are over in a mere 5.9 seconds. Thanks to good
aerodynamics and its VVT-i engine, the SC 430 yields
18 and 23 miles to the gallon on city and highway
roads, respectively. A great car that will appeal
to a younger market that will help Lexus compete.
