Compared
with rivals the S2000 is somewhat of a bargain.
It is notably quicker and cheaper than rivals
such as Porsche's Boxster. Fabulous looks and
an un-breakable VTEC engine all add to the package.
There are just three colour choices however, red,
black and silver. Expect the S2000 to be as reliable
as a Civic. Three-year warranty is very reassuring
and Honda build quality is legendary.
The
S2000 is a car that adapts to the driving conditions.
Around town it's easy and agile enough to play
city runabout, and on the motorway it's a comfy
cruiser. But, when the conditions allow, get the
revs up and it's an all out racer. Traditional
rear wheel drive set-up is difficult to upset
and the electronic power steering provides plenty
of feel.
The
ride is very soft, even though the suspension
set-up is never less than sporty. No compromises
here, although the non-height adjustable driver's
seat and fixed steering wheel will be a problem
for some.
In
a word, mature. That's no bad thing. This is a
sophisticated two-seat convertible, with true
sports car ability combined with everyday practicality.
Fabulous styling and a wonderful engine noise
make the S2000 the roadster to be seen in.
