Before 2006 BMW was known for its conservative but
innovative approach towards motorcycles. Release
of K 1200 R marks a new era and a new image for
BMW motorcycles.
Japanese
motorcycle manufacturers such as Honda, Kawasaki,
Suzuki, and Yamaha have been in a technological
war for a while and now, German motorcycle and
car manufacturer BMW has also decided to jump
in as this model is the most powerful “naked”
production motorcycle in the world producing a
whopping 163 hp (122 kW) @ 10,250 rpm from its
1157 cc 4 cylinder motor with a huge torque of
94 lbf·ft (127 N·m) @ 8,250 rpm,
a mind numbing explosive acceleration of 100 km/h
from stand-still in 2 seconds and a top speed
of over 163 mph (260 km/h) (Stats that were previously
only associated with Japanese motorcycles).
