The Eclipse debuted 10 years ago. The Eclipse is available in three models: RS, GS, and GT. Standard equipment for the RS includes air conditioning, 15-inch alloy wheels, power door locks, a tilt steering wheel, and an AM/FM stereo with CD. The 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse is available in five trims: RS, GS and GT coupes; GS and GT Spyder convertibles. Safety features include dual front airbags, optional side airbags and an optional anti-lock brake system (ABS) for the GT trims.


Powering the RS and GS is a new 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower (140 horsepower with the optional automatic transmission), while the GT gets a 3.0-liter 200-horsepower V6. The GS and GT are equipped with a rear stabilizer bar, a leather wrapped steering wheel, a rear spoiler, fog lights, and power windows. The four-speed automatic transmission is optional with all models. Optional equipment for the GS includes the GS Sun and Sound Package.

Optional equipment for the GT includes the GT Sun and Sound Package, GT Premium Package, and GT Sun, Sound, and Leather Package. The GT Sun, Sound, and Leather Package comes equipped with a Mitsubishi/Infinity AM/FM CD player, a power sunroof, and leather seats .
