The
Mazda Miata has a leather wrapped Nardi steering
wheel, power windows and mirrors, as well as 14-inch
alloy wheels are standard on base models and 15-inch
wheels are standard on the LS model. Over the
years, the competition has become pretty tough,
but Mazda has responded with increased power,
improved looks, and more standard features in
the Miata.
The
Miata comes in two models, the base Miata, and
the Miata LS. Base price of the Miata LS is $23,995.
This price includes a 140hp, 1.8 liter 16 valve,
four cylinder engine, front and rear double wishbone
suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, CD player, power
antennae, cruise control, dual air bags, and leather
seats. Tilt steering wheel, and traction control
are not available on the Miata.
Available
options include air conditioning, 4-speed automatic
transmission, anti lock brakes, fog lights, mud
guards, spoilers, and an upgraded suspension package
which includes a strut tower brace, sport suspension,
and Bilstein shocks. The sticker price of a fully
loaded Miata S with an automatic transmission
can balloons to nearly $30,000.
The
Miata’s competition includes the Volkswagen Cabriolet
GLS ($23,300), BMW Z3 2.3 ($31,300), Pontiac Sunfire
GT convertible ($21,610), Mustang V6 Convertible
($21,465), and the Camaro V6 Convertible (24,240).
There are quite a few other high end convertibles
available, but the competition listed is based
on price and also performance.
