It's hard to believe that Honda made it's first
real car, the Civic, less than thirty years ago.
It's simply amazing how far this company has come
in such a relatively short period. A combination
of innovative designs, advanced technology and,
most important of all, quality products have made
Honda a market leader. In the small car segment
Honda Civic is the car that others now use to
measure their products.
The CRX is a little 2+2-seater coupe
with scorching performance and adhesive roadholding.
Expensive to insure, needs careful servicing,
and rear seats are only really suitable for small
children - but it's great fun!
The Honda CRX was first introduced in 1984.
During it's first year of production it was hailed
as one of the top ten Cars of the Eighties by
Motor Trend Magazine. This car was also named
one of the top ten cars of the eighties by another
reputable car magazine. This car was a great success.
The CRX marked Honda's reentry into the low-end
sports coupe market.
The
older S500/S800 and the Z-600 Coupes were a great
success domestically, but were a failure outside
of Asia. So this is why the CRX was introduced.
This car was released the same year that Honda
promised to begin revamping every car in their
production line every four years. This car was
one of the best compact cars on the road during
the eighties and nineties. I'm sad to inform you
that it is now out of production.
