The
Lamborghini Countach was a shockingly outrageous
car when it was first introduced and it was still
on the automobile extreme when superseded by the
Diablo. With dramatic looks, performance and sex
appeal, the Countach was one of the most desirable
cars of the 1970's and 1980's. Many consider the
original LP 400 to be the best version.
The
first Countach was created in 1971 and the last
one came off the line in July, 1990. The Countach
was the second car manufactured by Ferrari. The
first car was the Miura created at the Lamborghini
factory which was founded by the great Italian
Furruccio Lamborghini.
The Countach was first conceived in
1971 and was a smash hit at its autoshow debut
in 1973 in Geneva. The first model was sold in
1974 and it was the beginning of a sixteen year
manufacturing success for this car.
The
name Countach is Italian for "Wow! Look at This."
The car has a V12 engine and an aluminum body.
All together there were five generations of this
best known Lamborghini manufactured. Those include
the LP400 from 1974-1978. The LP400S from 1978-1982.
The LP500S from 1982-1985. The 5000QV from 1985-1988.
And finally the 25th anniversary model to commemorate
the inauguration of Lamborghini.
