The
Cadillac Motor Company has a great history. Did
you know that Cadillac was the first production
automobile to use, amongst others, a distributor,
power steering, and a synchromesh transmission.
Henry M. Leland, was the founder of Cadillac. It
all started in 1902 when Henry M. Leland and Robert
C. Falconer started an automobile business named
after the French founder of Detroit, Antoine de
la Mothe Cadillac. Join us for a look at the history
of the car that has been called the "standard of
excellence."
In
1909 Cadillac was purchased by the then new General
Motors Corporation. Convenience, cleanliness and
all-weather comfort were greatly enhanced in 1910
when Cadillac became the first manufacturer to offer
closed bodies as standard equipment. For the 1948
model, Cadillac introduced the legendary tail fin
which once more set the trend in automotive styling
for nearly two decades.
You'd be hard-pressed to find an automaker
as consistently innovative as Cadillac. For 100
years now, from the electric starter to V8s and
16-cylinder engines, automatic transmissions and
tail fins, Cadillac traditionally led the parade.
Cadillac was the best car to have for a very long
time. Cadillac was known as a very high quality
car. |
