The A8 is powered by a 4.2-liter, 300-h.p., 32-valve
V-8 partnered with a 5-speed automatic with Tiptronic
technology. Also available with a smaller 3.7-liter
V8. This is a great car with all-aluminum, all-wheel-drive,
all-equipped sedan with a five-valve, 310 hp DOHC
V8 engine and five-speed automatic transmission.
The Audi A8 adds an L model for 2001 that increases
wheelbase and overall length by about 130 mm, and
rear-seat room by a similar amount.
The
hotrod S8 with 360 hp is also on its way in 2001.
Audi's Electronic Stabilization Program is standard
on A8, as are front- and rear-side and head-curtain
airbags. It even offers a heated steering wheel,
and maintenance is free for 48 months.
